About the artist

Jan Baptiste de Winter (1929–1985) was a Dutch sculptor, painter, printmaker and naturalist from Zaandam. Trained at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, he made bronzes that join academic rigour with the raw tension of post-war abstraction and an intimate knowledge of life beneath the water. The works on this site come from a private collection and are offered directly by its owners.
